Removing and installing SAM control unit with fuse and relay box in trunk - AR54.21-P-1258V

MODIFICATION NOTES

12.4.05 Disconnect ground cable of battery deleted Step 3
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of fire and explosion  caused by machining/treating magnesium components Keep away from ignition sources and open flames. -
NOTES Information on machining/treating magnesium components   -
1.1 Stage basic data from rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) in STAR DIAGNOSIS Only when installing new the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Transfer temporarily stored basic data to the new rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
    STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnosis system *WH58.30-Z-1048-13A 
2 Remove bottom center trunk paneling   AR68.30-P-4810V
3.1 Unscrew bolts (3) from bracket (4) On vehicles with code (527) COMAND APS (with navigation) or with code (498) Japanese version  
    COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS Power screwdriver/drill *WH58.30-Z-1007-20A 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA54.21-P-1005-01A 
4 Remove bolts (1) IMPORTANT Observe various bolt lengths (1)  
    COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS Power screwdriver/drill *WH58.30-Z-1007-20A 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA54.21-P-1005-01A 
5 Move beverage holder (2) toward rear    
6 Separate electrical connectors (6) and concealed electrical connector (arrow) IMPORTANT The electrical connector (6) leading circuit 30 must be disconnected first and contacted last. Number of electrical connectors (6) according to equipment.  
7 Release and disconnect electrical connectors (5).    
8 Press hooks (7) on the fuse holder (8) outwards and remove fuse holder (8) IMPORTANT Number of fuse holders (8) varies depending on equipment configuration.  
9 Unscrew bolts (9) and remove rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) from the equipment carrier (2)    
10.1 Check fuse and relay assignment at rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) Only when installing new the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).  
REFER TO BASIC KNOWLEDGE Fuse assignment of fuse and relay box in trunk   GF54.15-P-1256-06SK 
REFER TO BASIC KNOWLEDGE Relay assignment of fuse and relay box in trunk   GF54.15-P-1257-04SK 
11 Install in the reverse order
