Remove/install gas-operated strut on engine hood - AR88.40-P-3010V

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/Install    
DANGER Risk of injury  to fingers being jammed or pinched  when Remove/install or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/tailgate or sliding roof. When moving components, ensure that no body parts or limbs are within the operating range of moving parts. -
DANGER Injury hazard  Gas-operated struts are under high pressure and can pinch and crush body parts during work Only remove and install gas-operated struts in the relaxed position and when the components are secured properly. -
1 Open engine hood and move to upright position   AR88.40-P-1000V 
2 Lift upper and lower retainers (2) with suitable screwdriver (3) and unclip gas pressure strut (1) from mounts NOTES Do not remove retainers (2), otherwise tension can be lost.
IMPORTANT Do not remove both gas pressure struts simultaneously. If, however, both gas pressure struts (1) are removed simultaneously, secure engine hood against falling down.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Clip gas pressure strut (1) into mounts with retainers (2) installed.
 
3 Install in the reverse order
