General 

The EIS control module (N73) serves as limited gateway between the controller area network bus class B (interior compartment) (CANB) and the controller area network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C) for exchanging drive authorization data not transmitted by the central gateway control module (N93).

Tasks 

• Limited gateway between controller area network bus class B (interior compartment) (CAN-B) and controller area network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C),
• Encrypted bi-directional infrared communication to transmitter key (A8/1),
• Energy transmission to transmitter key (A8/1),
• Rotation-angle dependent activation of individual terminals (c. 15, c. 15R, c. 50, c. 15x and c. 15C),
• Rotation lock of transmitter key (A8/1) by locking solenoid
• Transmission of authentication data for releasing electric steering lock control module (N26/5) and ME-SFI control module (N3/10),
• Closing key opening when transmitter key (A8/1) is removed
• Locking transmitter key (A8/1) in turned position
• Prefastening and holding transmitter key (A8/1) in position 0,
• Transmitter key (A8/1) automatically returns from the start to the drive position
• Shift-lock function in combination with electronic selector lever module control module (N15/5) (with transmission 722),
• Checking and controlling access authorization
