When the trunk lid is opened, the status of the rotary tumbler/trunk lid microswitch (S88/1) is read discretely by the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2). The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) switches on the left luggage compartment lamp in an undimmed state (E18/5).

If the trunk lid is closed, the undimmed the left luggage compartment lamp goes out (E18/5). If the trunk lid is open for > 30 min., the left luggage compartment lamp (E18/5) (undimmed) is automatically switched off by the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
