In the event of a reduction in power or destruction of the rod antenna (A28), the emergency call system left backup antenna (A2/54) and the emergency call system right backup antenna (A2/55) are utilized. It is up to the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) to decide whether to use the emergency call system left backup antenna (A2/54) or the emergency call system right backup antenna (A2/55) for the emergency call or use the rod antenna (A28).

The signals received by the emergency call system left backup antenna (A2/54) and the emergency call system right backup antenna (A2/55) are transmitted to the emergency call system antenna splitter (A2/25) via a coaxial cable and discretely relayed to the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) and vice-versa.
