The headlamp range adjustment is manually performed by the driver using a thumb wheel on the exterior lamp switch (S1). The headlamp range adjustment facility is installed as passive safety equipment in vehicles fitted with Halogen headlamps to protect against dazzling oncoming traffic.
Function requirements:
- Circuit 15R ON
- Exterior lamp switch (S1) in "Driving lamp ON" position
Function
The thumb wheel has 2 positions (0, 1), whereby position "0" is selected if the vehicle is unladen. Position "1" is selected if the vehicle is loaded. The left headlamp range adjustment motor (E1m1) in the left front lamp unit (E1) and the right headlamp range adjustment motor (E2m1) in the right front lamp unit (E2) are actuated directly via the thumb wheel. This also applies to the voltage supply.
