Headlamp flasher actuation, function - GF82.10-P-3020SKX

Function of headlamp flasher without driving light 

The driver can activate the headlamp flasher functionality by pressing the combination switch (S4). The steering column module (N80) reads in the combination switch (S4) and supplies the "headlamp flasher ON" message to the Controller Area Network Bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B). The driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) actuates the left high beam (E1e1) and the right high beam (E2e1) and transmits the request to switch on the high beam indicator lamp (A1e3) to the instrument cluster (A1). The headlamp flasher remains active as long as the combination switch (S4) is held in the headlamp flasher position.

Function requirements:

Function of headlamp flasher with driving light 

The driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) actuates the left low beam (E1e2), the left high beam solenoid (E1l1) in the left front lamp unit (E1) as well as the right low beam (E2e2) and the right high beam solenoid (E2l1) in the right front lamp unit (E2). The actuation of the left high beam solenoid (E1l1) and the right high beam solenoid (E2l1) causes the plates, which cover the lower part of the light beam at low beam, to swivel downwards. This enables the entire beam to be provided for the high beam. The instrument cluster (A1) actuates the blue high beam indicator lamp (A1e3) and thus visually indicates that the high beam is switched on. Halogen bulbs are installed in the left high beam (E1e1) and the right high beam (E2e1); the high beams are only used for the headlamp flasher, if the xenon headlamps are switched off.

Function requirements:

IMPORTANT On actuation of the headlamp flasher, the left high beam (E1e1) and the right high beam (E2e1) are used. The bi-xenon light has a longer starting time and can only execute the headlamp flasher function when it is switched on.

IMPORTANT The difference between the headlamp flasher and high beam lies in the switch position of the combination switch (S4). The combination switch has to be pulled into the direction opposite the light beam actuation into the headlamp flasher position and held there.
