| 1 | Remove upper control panel control unit | AR54.21-P-1262V | |
| 2 | Remove stowage compartment or beverage holder | AR68.10-P-1600V | |
| 3 | Remove bolts (1) | ||
| 4 | Lift center air outlet (2) until it is released from the fixings (arrow) on the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) | ||
| 5 | Pull COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) out of the center console (3) sufficiently until the electrical connector (4) and the fiber optical cable coupling (5) are accessible | ||
| 6 | Disconnect fiber optical cable coupling (5) | ||
| 7 | Cover fiber optical cable coupling (5) | ||
| 8 | Disconnect electrical connector (4) and remove COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) | ||
| 9 | Install in the reverse order | ||
| 10 | Perform function check of COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) |
