Windshield wiper, function - GF82.30-P-3004RC

MODEL 171.4 as of model year 09/YoM 08 model refinement package

General function requirements  C. 15R On

Wiping windshield, general  The windshield wiping function keeps the windshield free of water, snow, etc.

Windshield wiping comprises the following subfunctions:  Touch wiping function sequence; Function sequence for automatic wiper actuation (with code (345) Rain sensor); Function sequence of wiping at specified speed.

Touch wiping function sequence  Touch wiping is actuated in the following manner: Single wiping: For single touch wiping, briefly push combination switch (S4) as far as the detent point. - Repeated wiping: When the combination switch is pressed for a longer period of time, wiping takes place corresponding to the length of operation.

Touch wiping is always performed in the current speed stage. If the wiper is not located in the park position, the request of the combination switch is ignored. The position of the combination switch is read in by the steering column tube module (N80) and transmitted to the interior CAN. The driver SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) reads in the necessary data and actuates the wiper motor (M6/1) accordingly.

Touch wiping has priority over intermittent wiping. If during touch wiping the combination switch is in position "1", the interval period is restarted after the touch wiping is complete or a request of the rain/light sensor (B38/2) (with code (345) Rain sensor) is awaited.

Function sequence for automatic wiper control  Turning the combination switch to position "1" is read in by the steering column tube module and sent to the interior CAN. The rain/light sensor uses the degree of wetness to calculate the frequency of required wipe operations. The request by the rain/light sensor is communicated via the overhead control panel control unit (N70) to the driver SAM control unit, which actuates the wiper motor accordingly.

Function sequence of wiping at specified speed  Turning the combination switch to position "2" (continuous wipe with slow speed) or to position "3" (continuous wipe with fast speed), switches on the continuous wipe function.

The position of the combination switch is read in by the steering column tube module and transmitted to the interior CAN. The driver SAM control unit reads in the required data and actuates the wiper motor accordingly.
