General information on voice control The individual functions of the driver information system are called up and operated via the voice control system (VCS [SBS]). The VCS is integrated into the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3). The system can be controlled by voice by spelling out or entering complete words.
Operating instructions The voice control is activated or deactivated via the VCS [SBS] switch (S93/2) on the right of the steering column tube module (N80).
Voice control function sequence The control signals of the VCS [SBS] switch are forwarded over the following components to the COMAND controller unit: Direct line - Steering column tube module - Interior CAN.
The voice input takes place via the associated hands-free system microphone group, which is connected to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit via a direct line. The spoken word is converted to an electrical signal by the hands-free system microphone group and transferred to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit. The voice output in vehicles with code (810) Sound system, takes place via the following components: COMAND operating, display and controller unit - Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) - Amplifier for sound system (N40/3) - Direct lines - Speaker system.
The following speakers are actuated: Left door speaker group (H4/1) - Right door speaker group (H4/2) - Center cockpit speaker (centerfill) (H4/27)
On vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the voice output takes place via the COMAND operating, display and controller unit to the listed speakers by means of direct lines.
