N70 Overhead control panel control unit

Location  The overhead control panel control unit is located in the front area at the center of the front roof frame panel.

Design  The following lamps and controls are installed in the overhead control panel control unit: Left interior lamp (N70e4) - Right interior lamp (N70e5) - Door contact ON and OFF switch (N70s3) - Dome lamp ON and OFF switch (N70s4) - Left reading lamp switch (N70s6) - Right reading lamp switch (N70s7).

With code (231) Garage door opener or code (232) Garage door opener at frequency of 284-390 MHz:  Garage door opener indicator lamp (A26/10e1) - Garage door opener button 1 (A26/10s1) - Garage door opener button 2 (A26/10s2) - Garage door opener button 3 (A26/10s3)

Task  The overhead control panel control unit has the following tasks: Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals; Evaluation of input factors; Control of systems; Actuation of components; Voltage supply to components.

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals  The input factors are read in with the following connections: Direct line; Interior CAN.

Direct line  The following components are read in via a direct line: - Interior protection transmitter and receiver (A26/14) (with code 882) Interior monitoring (with ATA only)) - With code (249) Automatically dimming inside rearview mirror and outside mirror (driver). - Mirror dimming sensor, forward (A67h1) - Mirror dimming sensor, back (A67h2) - Rain/light sensor (B38/2) (with code (345) Rain sensor) - Door contact ON and OFF switch - Dome lamp ON and OFF switch - Left reading lamp switch - Right reading lamp switch - Vario roof limit switch, closed (left journal) (S69)

Interior CAN  The overhead control panel control unit reads in function-relevant information via the interior CAN.

Evaluating input factors  The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.

Control of systems  The overhead control panel control unit actuates the following systems: Interior illumination - Automatic dimming function of electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror, left (M21/1) and the inside rearview mirror unit (A67) (with code (249) Automatically dimming inside rearview mirror and outside mirror (driver)).

Actuation of components  Components are actuated with the following lines: Direct line; Interior CAN.

Direct line  The following components are actuated via a direct line: Automatic mirror dimming (A67h3) (for code (249) Automatically dimming inside rearview mirror and outside mirror (driver)) - Left reading lamp (A67e1) (with code (876) Interior lights package) - Right reading lamp (A67e2) (with code (876) Interior lights package) - Ambient lamp (A67e3) - Left reading lamp (N70e2) (without code (876) Interior lights package) - Right reading lamp (N70e3) (without code (876) Interior lights package) - Right and left interior lights.

Interior CAN  The overhead control panel control unit transmits requests for function-relevant actuation via the interior CAN.

Voltage supply to components  - Right front vanity mirror illumination switch (S102) and thus the right front vanity mirror illumination (E14/7) - Garage door opener transmitter unit (A26/10) (with code (231) Garage door opener or code (232) Garage door opener with frequency 284-390 MHz)

The following components are supplied with voltage by the overhead control panel control unit:  Left front vanity mirror illumination switch (S101) and thus the left front vanity mirror illumination (E14/6) - interior protection transmitter and receiver (with code (882) Interior monitoring (with ATA only)) - Inside rearview mirror unit - Rain/light sensor.
