Headlight switch off delay function - GF82.10-P-2011RC

Function requirements for headlamp switch-off delay (SWA), general  Function activated via the instrument cluster (A1) Engine switched off and transmitter key (A8/1) removed Rain/light sensor (B38/2) (with code (345) Rain sensor) signals darkness Rotary light switch (S1) in auto on/off headlamps position (with code (494) USA version)

Headlamp switch-off delay, general  The headlamp switch-off delay is used to leave and find the vehicle safely in darkness by switching on the vehicle's ambient illumination. The headlamp switch-off delay comprises the following subfunctions: Headlamp switch-off delay function sequence; Locator lighting (AFB) function sequence.

Headlamp switch-off delay function sequence  The following information is evaluated by the driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) for output of the headlamp switch-off delay function: Activated headlamp switch-off delay function provided by the instrument cluster on the interior CAN - Terminal status circuit 15 provided on the interior CAN by the electronic ignition switch control unit (N73) - Status of rain/light sensor provided on the interior CAN by the overhead control panel control unit (N70) - Rotary light switch status

Once the engine is switched off and the transmitter key is removed from the EIS [EZS] control unit, the vehicle's ambient illumination is switched on for a period that can be adjusted via the instrument cluster. The function sequence starts again by opening a door. The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) provides the status of the front doors on the interior CAN.

The driver-side SAM control unit evaluates all of the relevant information and transmits the request for switching on the vehicle's ambient illumination in the rear area to the rear SAM control unit via the interior CAN. The following components of the vehicle's ambient illumination are actuated by the driver-side SAM control unit:  Left standing and parking lights (E1e3) - Right standing and parking lights (E2e3) - Left front fog lamp (E5/1) - Right fog lamp (E5/2) - Left front side marker lamp (E6/1) and right front side marker lamp (E6/2) (with code (494) USA version).

The following components of the vehicle's ambient illumination are actuated by the rear SAM control unit:  Left rear side marker lamp (E3e6) and right rear side marker lamp (E4e6) (with code (494) USA version) - Left stop lamp, taillamp and parking lamp (E3e9) - Right stop lamp, taillamp and parking lamp (E4e9) - Left license plate lamp (E19/1) and right license plate lamp (E19/2).

By briefly switching on circuit 15 after switching off the engine, it is possible to discretely leave the vehicle without activating the headlamp switch-off delay. The active headlamp switch-off delay is terminated immediately by switching on circuit 15 or by triggering an anti-theft alarm system ATA [EDW]) alarm (with code (551) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA EDW])).

Locator lighting function sequence  The vehicle's ambient illumination is switched on for a period of approx.t = 40 s when the vehicle is unlocked by means of the transmitter key.

The request "Unlock vehicle" is transmitted by the EIS [EZS] control unit to the driver-side SAM control unit via the interior CAN.

The headlamp switch-off delay and locator lighting functions run in parallel if necessary. An active headlamp switch-off delay function is not aborted by the request for the locator lighting function and vice versa.
