Overhead control panel control unit, task - GF82.20-P-4101-02SK

The overhead control panel control unit (N70) has the following purpose:

• Gateway to the Control Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B)
• Voltage supply
• Controlling
• Reading switch statuses
• Reading and evaluating sensors

Gateway to the CAN-B 

The overhead control panel control unit (N70) serves as the interface (gateway) to the CAN-B for the following components:

• Rain/light sensor (B38/2)
• Inside rearview mirror unit (A67), with code (249b) Automatic dimming inside and outside rearview mirrors (driver)
• Garage door opener (in diagnostic mode only), with code (231a) Garage door opener
• Interior motion sensor transmitter and receiver (A26/14)

Voltage supply 

The overhead control panel control unit (N70) provides voltage to the following components:

• Illumination, left front vanity mirror (E14/6) and illumination, right front vanity mirror (E14/7)
• Left reading lamp (N70e2) and right reading lamp (N70e3), except code (876) interior lighting package
• Left reading lamp (A67e1) and right reading lamp (A67e2), with code (876) interior lighting package
• Left interior lamp (N70e4) and right interior lamp (N70e5)
• Ambient lamp (A67e3), with code (876) interior lighting package
• Garage door opener, with code (231a) Garage door opener
• Inside rearview mirror unit (A67), with code (249b) Automatic dimming inside and outside rearview mirrors (driver)
• Interior motion sensor transmitter and receiver (A26/14), with code (882b) interior monitoring

Controlling 

The overhead control panel control unit (N70) controls all the interior lights and the following components:

• Master for the interior lights
• Entrance and exit lamp for the left door (E17/3) via the left door control unit (N69/1)
• Entrance and exit lamp for the right door (E17/4) via the right door control unit (N69/2)
• Dimming of the inside rearview mirror unit (A67)
• Dimming of the left electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/1) via the left door control unit (N69/1)

Reading switches 

The overhead control panel control unit (N70) reads the status of the following integrated switches:

• Dome light ON and OFF switch (N70s4)
• Door contact ON and OFF switch (N70s3)
• Left reading lamp switch (N70s6)
• Right reading lamp switch (N70s7)

In addition, the overhead control panel control unit (N70) reads the status of the external limit switches for the Vario roof "closed" (left lock pin) (S69).

Reading and evaluating sensors 

The overhead control panel control unit (N70) reads the status of the following components and evaluates their condition:

• Sensor for automatic mirror dimming to the front (A67h1), with code (249b) Automatic dimming inside and outside rearview mirrors (driver)
• Sensor for automatic mirror dimming to the rear (A67h1), with code (249b) Automatic dimming inside and outside rearview mirrors (driver)
• Interior motion sensor transmitter and receiver (A26/14) on vehicles with code (882b) interior monitoring (with ATA only)

The overhead control panel control unit (N70) is connected with the CAN-B bus for exchanging data.
