MODEL 171.4 with CODE (359) TELE AID emergency call system 

The vehicle is equipped with the MB telematics services:

• Roadside assistance call (telediagnosis, roadside assistance)
• MB information call

MB information call 

The "MB Information" service gives customers the opportunity to contact a Service Center. The user can obtain up-to-date information (e.g. about the traffic situation and possible detours) or additional Mercedes-Benz-specific information using this information service. This service is mainly a voice service and is handled by the emergency call system control unit (N123/4). The service is activated by the user by pressing the MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group (S93/6).

If the service has been authorized and no service with a higher priority is active, the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) transmits a Short Message Service (SMS) message to the Service Center.

The following data are transmitted:

• Vehicle position
• Vehicle identification data

At the same time as sending the SMS a voice connection is made to the Service Center and the user can speak to a customer service employee. If the service center is unable to establish a connection to the vehicle, the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) itself tries to establish a connection between the vehicle and the service center. The information service is a free service provided by the Mercedes-Benz customer service department.

Status reports 

The status messages are output on the displays of the following components:

• COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3)
• Upper multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1)

The following statuses are reported when an MB information call is made:

• MB-Info, Call in Progress
• MB-Info, Call Active
• MB-Info, Call Failed
