Hazard warning flasher actuation function - GF82.10-P-3009SK

The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) is turn signal master, in other words it specifies, when and which turn signal lamp is switched on or off. The following priorities apply to the turn signal actuation, corresponding to their sequence:

The hazard warning flasher function includes the following functions:

Hazard flashers after airbag deployment 

Function requirements:

If an airbag is deployed, the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) transmits a crash signal to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) to actuate the hazard warning flashers. In the event of accelerations < 4 g there is no deployment, since both requirements have to be met. The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) receives the "crash" message and actuates the left turn signal lamp (E3e1) and the right turn signal lamp (E4e1) via discrete wiring. The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) supplies the "turn signal indicator ON" request on the Controller Area Network Bus Class B (interior) (CANB).

The left door control unit (N69/1) actuates the left outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/5), and the right door control unit (N69/2) actuates the right outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/6). The driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) actuates the left turn signal lamp (E1e5) and the right turn signal lamp (E2e5) via discrete wiring. The function is deactivated, as soon as the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) receives an actuation of the hazard warning system switch (N72/1s5) from the upper control panel control unit (N72/1) via CAN-B.

ATA alarm flashing 

Function requirements:

The way the exterior lights respond if the ATA is active depends on the country. The differences are programmed in the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).

In the process, the request for switching the exterior lights on has a higher priority than the request that is issued by the exterior lamp switch (S1). The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) is the master of the ATA and transmits, if the ATA has triggered, the message "ATA alarm" on the CAN-B. The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) actuates the following lamps via discrete wiring:

The left door control unit (N69/1) actuates the left outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/5). The right door control unit (N69/2) actuates the right outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/6).

The driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) actuates the following lamps via discrete wiring:

The system requests deactivation of the exterior lights, once the anti-theft alarm system alarm is reset, in other words, the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) receives the message that a transmitter key (A8/1) is valid and recognized from the EIS control unit (N73) via CAN-B.

Hazard warning flashers 

Function requirements:

The request is issued by the upper control panel control unit (N72/1) and transmitted by operating the hazard warning system switch (N72/1s5) over CAN-B.

The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) receives the message and actuates the left turn signal lamp (E3e1) and the right turn signal lamp (E4e1) via discrete wiring. The left door control unit (N69/1) actuates the left outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/5). The right door control unit (N69/2) actuates the right outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/6). The driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) actuates the left turn signal lamp (E1e5) and the right turn signal lamp (E2e5) via discrete wiring. The bright turn signal phase is fully completed by the combination switch (S4) if the request is discontinued (S4). The visual feedback signal to the driver is accomplished through the left turn signal indicator lamp (A1e1) and the right turn signal indicator lamp (A1e2) in the instrument cluster (A1) and through the indicator lamp in the hazard warning system switch (N72/1s5) of the upper control panel control unit (N72/1). The turn signal frequency depends on the circuit status. The duty cycle (bright/dark) is pulsed by the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and transmitted cyclically on CAN-B.

The following switching states exist:

Feedback for locking/unlocking 

Function requirements:

Unlocking the vehicle with the transmitter key (A8/1) is acknowledged with a turn signal pulse of all turn signal indicators. Locking is acknowledged with 3 turn signal pulses. The turn signal frequency in both cases is 1.5 Hz with a duty cycle from bright/dark of 52 % to 48 %. The request for a feedback arrives from the EIS control unit (N73) via CAN-B. If a door is open, the visual feedback signal via the turn signal indicators during locking is suppressed.
