After an emergency call is actuated, an emergency call telegram is automatically generated by the E-CALL control unit (A35/8). It includes the following information:

• Vehicle location
• Type of emergency call actuation: automatic or manual with the SOS pushbutton switch (S93/3),
• Crash parameter from restraint system control unit (N2/7) and tilting cone sensor (B66),
• Identification number for identifying vehicle,
• Time of emergency call.

The emergency call telegram is relayed to the E-call center via mobile telephone.

This service has not been available in Japan since 31.12.2003

In the E-CALL control unit (A35/8) up to three generated emergency call telegrams are stored. If already more than three emergency call telegrams are stored the oldest telegram is written over.
