Remove/install xenon headlamp control unit - AR82.10-P-4632R

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of death  caused by high voltage levels present at xenon headlamps.
Risk of explosion/fire hazard  through highly flammable material in the area of damaged xenon bulbs.
Risk of injury  through UV light, hot components on xenon headlamps and glass splinters when xenon bulbs burst.
Risk of poisoning  through inhalation of mercury vapor and swallowing of or skin contact with toxic salts and mercury compounds.
Do not come into contact with parts that are under high voltage. Persons with active electronic implants  (e.g. heart pacemakers) must never work on xenon headlamps. Switch off complete lighting system. Wear insulating safety shoes, safety glasses and protective gloves. Remove highly inflammable materials from the hazard area. Ensure that the workplace is sufficiently ventilated. AS82.10-Z-0001-01A

1 Switch off the ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS control unit IMPORTANT On vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go, press Keyless Go start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off.
Remove Keyless Go transmitter card or transmitter key from vehicle and store beyond reach of transmitter (min. 2 m).
 
2.1 Remove left front engine compartment paneling When removing xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1) of the left front lamp unit (E1) on vehicles without code (487) Active Body Control (ABC). AR61.20-P-1105R
2.2 Remove left front lamp unit (E1) When removing xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1) of the left front lamp unit (E1) on vehicles with code (487) Active Body Control (ABC). AR82.10-P-4730R 
3.1 Remove right front engine compartment paneling When removing xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1) of right front lamp unit (E2). AR61.20-P-1105R
3.2 Remove front section of fender liner in right front fender When removing xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1) of right front lamp unit (E2) on vehicles with code (228) Stationary heater. AR88.10-P-1300R
4 Remove screws (1) on the xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1 or E2n1)    
5 Remove xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1) from left front lamp unit (E1) or xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1) from right front lamp unit (E2) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Check sealing on xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1 or E2n1) for signs of damage and correct installation position.  
6 Install in the reverse order    
7 Use STAR DIAGNOSIS to code xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1 or E2n1) When replacing xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1 or E2n1).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A

8 Check the adjustment of the left front lamp unit (E1) or the right front lamp unit (E2) and correct, if necessary. When replacing xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1 or E2n1). AP82.10-P-8260R
