MODEL 230

with CODE (853) MB standard cellular telephone

with CODE (854) MB portable cellular telephone

Portable cellular telephone, function

A call can be completed in a number of ways (multifunction steering wheel, voice control system). This assumes that the system is ready for operation after entering the PIN and logging in (switched on). If the telephone is not required, it goes to the stand-by mode. The telephone is switched on and off  by the vehicle head unit (COMAND, radio).

The portable cellular telephone is connected to the vehicle optical data bus (D2B) just as is the head unit.

Physical connection is accomplished via an adapter, the telephone interface (A34/4).

Incoming and outgoing calls are transmitted and received by the telephone antenna (A2/22).

It is possible to use the vehicle hands-free system for making calls, which increases driving safety. The voice connection is completed via the hands-free system microphone (B25)  and the hands-free system loudspeaker  (voice output via the entire loudspeaker system), the portable cellular telephone remains in the cradle.

Here, the displays (portable cellular telephone, instrument cluster, COMAND, radio) provide a series of information for the user regarding the telephone operating state (e.g. menu selection). The volume of the portable cellular telephone loudspeaker and of the hands-free system can be adjusted individually by the user at the portable cellular telephone or with the multifunction steering wheel.

The volume of any audio source switched on (radio, COMAND) is automatically reduced during a telephone conversation to ensure the maximum fidelity for the user over the hands-free system microphone.

It is possible for the user to change back and forth between the networks (D-network or E-network). This is made possible by installation of a compensator (A28/3).

Additional information is contained in the applicable operating instructions.
