- Scribe separation line on A-pillar outer paneling (1) (area A).
Transfer separation line on A-pillar outer paneling (1) from vehicle (area A).
- Scribe separation lines on A-pillar outer paneling (1) with
cutting template (area B).
When replacing complete A-pillar,
position cutting template on Y-marking (arrow).
When replacing A-pillar outer paneling (1) and A-pillar reinforcement (2), transfer separation line from vehicle (area B).

- Separate separation points on A-pillar outer paneling (1) using body saw (areas A and B) (areas A and B).
- Grind mating surfaces on A-pillar outer paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas using
round wire brush.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surface on inside of A-pillar outer paneling (1) (area C).
To prevent adhesion problems, do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint. (area C).

- Grind mating surfaces on A-pillar reinforcement (2) in cross-hatched areas using
round wire brush (areas E, E1
, F, F1
, L, G, H, I, J and K).
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas E1
, F1
, L, H, I, J and K).
To prevent adhesion problems, do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint.
