  1. Remove installation frame (6) from old headliner (1).
  2. Detach wiring harness (4) from rear area of old headliner (1) and lay down to side.
  3. Saw through old headliner (1) approx. 5 cm in front of cutout for rear PTS warning indicator (A44/3).
  4. Shim rear area of new headliner (1) with suitable spacers, e.g. foam material or Styrofoam blocks.

NOTES Do not use hard or sharp-edged objects to prevent damaging the new headliner cover (1).

The shims prevent the new headliner (1) from being bent or damaged during the following work steps.

  5. Place cutting template (2) onto new headliner (1) and align.
  6. Mark cutout for PTS warning indicator (3) onto new headliner (1).
  7. Remove cutting template (2) from new headliner (1).
  8. Saw cutout for PTS warning indicator (3) out of new headliner (1).

NOTES Use metal saw blade, otherwise headliner (1) can be damaged.

Saw out within the recorded cutting line, otherwise the cutout for the PTS warning indicator (3) is too large.

    Shown on model 221

  9. Insert new installation frame (6) from bottom into new headliner

IMPORTANT The retaining spring (arrow A) must be located on the right side (toward front of vehicle).

  10. Bend over left and right side retaining tab (7) at intended bending point (arrows B) using suitable pliers.

NOTES Carefully bend over retaining tabs (7), otherwise the installation frame (6) can distort very easily.
