Replace tires - AR40.10-P-1030MB

MODEL 220 with CODE (979) Special protection version with PAX system run-flat wheel 

MODEL 221 with CODE (Z07) Top protection with PAX system emergency wheel

INSPECT Checking

1 Checking tire pressure monitor battery Vehicles with code (475) Tire pressure monitoring system (Beru)  
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Checking tire pressure monitor battery Model 220 AP40.15-P-4056M
DISASSEMBLING Disassemble     
2 Detach PAX system run-flat wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary Model 220 AP40.10-P-4050Z
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   Model 221 AP40.10-P-4050SX
3 Remove bonded wheel balance weights using removal tool NOTES Do not use a hard, pointed or sharp-edged tool so as to avoid damaging the surface of the disk wheel (5).  
SPECIAL TOOL Fig 3
Loctite 7200 *BR00.45-Z-1038-04A 
4 Remove valve element from valve    
5 Remove tires (1) and support ring (4) NOTES To avoid causing damage, perform operations on tires (1) and support ring (4) using the specified tools only. Pay attention to manufacturer's operating instructions. AR40.10-P-1030-01MB

INSPECT Checking     
6 Check tires (1) and support ring (4) for damage IMPORTANT Check tires (1) for visible areas of cord. Check support ring (4) for tearing, pressure marks or deformation at the bars.  
7 Check TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5), valve body (3) and shoulder seal (3s, only up to 08/2004) for damage when installed Vehicles with code (475) Tire pressure monitoring system (Beru)  
    NOTES Do not remove TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5). Do not tighten bolt (3a) or union nut (2), as this will damage the TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5).
IMPORTANT Replace all components if the bolt (3a) or the union nut (2) of the TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5) is visibly loose.
IMPORTANT Replace TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5) if damage is visible and after using the TIREFIT tire sealant:↓
 
    Remove/install wheel sensor.
IMPORTANT
When doing so, observe the tightening torques for the different gasket versions:↓
AR40.15-P-0080A
REFER TO COMPONENT MODIFICATIONS Gasket of valve body modified.   BT40.15-P-0080-01A
CLEAN Clean     
8 Clean TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5) Vehicles with code (475) Tire pressure monitor (Siemens)
NOTES Wipe off dirt with a clean, lint-free cloth only. Do not use compressed air, solvents or cleaners, as this will damage the TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5).
 
ASSEMBLING Assemble     
9 Mount tires (1) and support ring (4)   AR40.10-P-1030-02MB

10 Inflate tire (1)    
11 Screw valve element into valve    
12 Adjust tire inflation pressure to correct pressure. IMPORTANT See tire pressure label in the vehicle's fuel filler flap.  
13 Balance wheel Model 220 AR40.10-P-1040A
Model 221 AR40.10-P-1040SX 
14 Mount wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary Model 220 AP40.10-P-4050Z
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   Model 221 AP40.10-P-4050SX
15 Activate the tire pressure monitoring system Model 220 AR54.30-P-1000-02RAM
