Remove/install fuel tank - AR47.10-P-4100SX

MODEL 216 with ENGINE 156, 157, 273, 275, 278 

MODEL 221 with ENGINE 156, 157, 272, 273, 275, 276, 278, 629, 642

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel and risk of injury  to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Only pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.
AS47.00-Z-0001-01A 
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
1 Drain fuel tank (1) If fuel pump is intact
Vehicles with gasoline engine
AR47.10-P-4001SX 
    Vehicles with diesel engine AR47.10-P-4001SXI
    If fuel pump is defective AR47.10-P-4000SX 
2 Detach rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and place into luggage compartment with the lines connected   AR54.21-P-1258SX
3 Remove hose (2) from fuel tank (1) SPECIAL TOOL Fig 3
4 Disconnect electrical connector (3)    
5 Remove center rear seat cushions or continuous rear seat cushions and unscrew nuts (1a) IMPORTANT For model 221 with code Z07 Protection code lift special protection mat at rear to detach the nut (1a).
Model 221.0 with code 223, rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats, lumbar support and pneumatically raisable head restraints.
Model 221.1 with code 223, rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats, lumbar support and pneumatically raisable head restraints or with code 224, Design rear bucket seat system.
AR91.12-P-1020SZ
    Model 221.0 except code 223, rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats with PRE-SAFE positioning function for outer seats and outer head restraints.
Model 221.1 except code 224, rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats with PRE-SAFE positioning function for outer seats and outer head restraints, code 223 and except Design rear bucket seat system.
AR91.12-P-1020SY
    Model 221.0 with code 223, rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats with PRE-SAFE positioning function for outer seats and outer head restraints.
Model 221.1 with code 223, rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats with PRE-SAFE positioning function for outer seats and outer head restraints, or with code 224, Design rear bucket seat system.

6.1 Remove underfloor paneling Vehicles without top protection AR61.30-P-1001SX
6.2 Remove center skid plates Model 221 with maximum protection, code Z07 AR61.40-P-1000SXS
7 Remove complete rear axle   AR35.10-P-0010SX
8 Remove heat shield (4) When replacing fuel tank (1)  
9 Remove fuel hose (5) from fuel tank (1) IMPORTANT Collect fuel which flows out.  
10 Remove fuel return hose from fuel tank (1) Engines 642, 629
IMPORTANT Collect fuel which flows out.
 
11 Remove fuel filler flap with filler neck recess    
12 Remove bolts (1b) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA47.10-P-1003-01L
13 Remove bolts (1c) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA47.10-P-1002-01L
14 Take out fuel tank (1) NOTES Never handle fuel tank (1) at the filler neck (6) or vent line (7) since these can be damaged.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Filler neck (6) and vent line (7) cannot be replaced separately!
 
15 Dispose of fuel tank (1) Only when replacing fuel tank (1)  
REFER TO FORMS Disposing fuel tanks   OS47.10-P-0001-01A 
16 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Checking     
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

17 Check fuel system for leaks with engine running
