Tightening procedure for crankshaft bearing caps - AR03.20-P-4351-02TI

Always maintain work sequence to prevent damaging engine.

Moisten the thread and head contact surface of the bolts of the crankshaft bearing caps with oil.
Tighten crankshaft bearing cap bolts on crankshaft bearing block to first stage torque according to tightening instructions.
Tighten crankshaft housing side bolts on crankshaft bearing cap to first stage torque according to tightening instructions.
This centers the crankshaft bearing cap in the cylinder crankcase.

Completely tighten crankshaft bearing cap bolts on crankshaft block according to tightening instructions.
Loosen crankshaft bearing housing side bolts on crankshaft bearing cap again.
This releases any tension present.
Completely tighten side bolts of crankshaft housing on crankshaft bearing cap according to tightening torque.
Turn the crankshaft.
Check for unobstructed movement.
