Remove/install starter - AR15.30-P-7100GZB: Notes

MODIFICATION NOTES

4.8.10 Method to install engine hoist changed AR33.10-P-0100-01GZ
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A
1 Detach ground line from battery NOTES Insulate ground line clamp as a protection against unintentional contact of ground line with ground point of battery. AR54.10-P-0003GZ

2 Remove bottom sections of soundproofing   AR94.30-P-5300GZ 
3 Unscrew nut (1) and remove starter shield (3) IMPORTANT If installed.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA15.30-P-1004-01N 
4 Unclip electrical line (2) at engine mount shield (5) IMPORTANT If necessary  
5 Remove bolt (4) for right engine mount   AR22.10-P-1100GZB
6 Remove engine mount shield (5) from above    
7 Remove bolts (8) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA15.30-P-1003-01N 
8 Mount engine lifting device Only for starter (M1) from Valeo
IMPORTANT Observe manufacturer's assembly specifications and safety information.		 AR33.10-P-0100-01GZ
    SPECIAL TOOL Engine hoist Fig 2
9 Lift engine with engine support bracket Only for starter (M1) from Valeo
IMPORTANT Pay attention when lifting out engine that no lines are damaged and that engine does not lean against partition wall.		  
10 Remove bolts on front axle carrier and remove right engine mount Only for starter (M1) from Valeo
To do this push starter (M1) upwards.		 AR22.10-P-1100GZB
11 Remove protection against accidental contact (6) of circuit 30 electrical line from starter (M1)    
12 Detach electrical line circuit 30 (M1) from starter TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA15.30-P-1001-01N 
13 Disconnect electrical line of circuit 50 (7) from starter (M1) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA15.30-P-1002-01N 
14 Remove starter (M1) from below IMPORTANT Push starter (M1) upwards over engine support in a slewing movement, then swivel downwards and remove it.  
15 Check ring gear for wear and check for damage When replacing the starter (M1).
IMPORTANT Rotate engine at crankshaft in direction of rotation.		  
16 Install in the reverse order
