Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by fuel spraying out at high pressure - AS07.16-Z-0001-01A
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2011 Mercedes-Benz ML350, 2010 Mercedes-Benz ML350, 2009 Mercedes-Benz ML320, 2009 Mercedes-Benz GL320, and 2008 Mercedes-Benz ML320. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Keep all ignition sources out of hazard area.
Do not carry out any work on system when it is pressurized.
Potential risks
Risk of explosion!
When working on the fuel injection system (e.g. on injection nozzles, pressure lines, rail, high-pressure pump, etc.) when the engine is running or within 30 s after switching the engine off, fuel may escape under high pressure. When opening the pressurized system, there is a risk of explosion due to very finely sprayed fuel coming into contact with an ignition source.
Risk of injury!
Highly pressurized fuel may penetrate deep into the skin and destroy the tissue. Fuel can get into the blood circulation and cause blood poisoning.
Safety instructions/precautions
- Keep sources of ignition such as sparks, cigarettes or open flames away from fuel.
- Do not carry out any work on the system when it is pressurized.
First aid measures
- Clean wound.
- If blood poisoning is suspected, bandage the part of the body affected, and consult a physician.
