Inspect cylinders for leaks - AR01.00-P-1300GZ (ML500)

	Remove/Install
	Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns when working in engine during starting procedure	Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
1	Bring the engine up to operating temperature (approx. 80°C)	Check the cylinder for leaks only when the engine is at normal operating temperature.
2	Remove key from the ignition lock	On vehicles with Keyless Go, code 889: Press keyless go start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off
3	Open engine hood		AR88.40-P-1000GZ
	Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.	Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles. 4	Undo cap of coolant expansion reservoir
5	Remove oil filler cap
6	Remove a spark plug from each cylinder
	Replace spark plugs		AP15.10-P-1580GZ
7	Position the piston of the cylinder to be checked at the top dead center with the top dead center selector	Crank the engine at the center bolt of the crankshaft in the direction of rotation of the engine.

8	Connect cylinder leak tester (04)	Calibrate cylinder leakage tester (04) and screw the connection hose into the spark plug bore
