Detach/attach engine on front axle carrier - AR01.10-P-2510GZ (ML500)

MODIFICATION NOTES

25.6.07 Observe tightening procedure for assembly of the propeller shaft - added Step 7  
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being pinched or crushed  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lids, tailgates or sliding roof. Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
1 Remove engine with the front axle carrier (8)   AR01.10-P-2500GZ 
2 Hook engine and mechanism with engine hoist into the lifting eye on the engine IMPORTANT Secure front axle carrier (8) on portable lifting platform with tensioning strap.
Engine hoist (self-locking),
refer to GOTIS

3 Raise engine IMPORTANT Only raise far enough for chain on engine hoist to be lightly tensioned.  
4 Remove bolts (1) from the engine mounts TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA22.10-P-1002-03G 
5 Remove bracket (2) at oil pan (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1002-01H 
6 Unscrew banjo bolt (4) on power steering pump (5) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace the gaskets.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1001-01H 
7 Remove front propeller shaft (6) on transfer case (7) IMPORTANT Mark front propeller shaft (6) relative to propeller shaft flange (6a).
IMPORTANT Detach vent line for front axle gear on vent valve.
 
    IMPORTANTInstallation:  Observe tightening procedure for front propeller shaft (6). AR41.10-P-0070-03GZ

8 Lift engine and transmission out of the front axle carrier (8)    
9 Install in the reverse order
