Test brake system with pressure tester for leaks - AR42.10-P-0015GG

MODIFICATION NOTES

9.7.09 Remove front left wheel, added Step 1  
DANGER Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by handling hot or glowing objects. Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
1 Remove front left wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary   AP40.10-P-4050G
2 Remove bleed screw on front left brake caliper and connect pressure tester (051) NOTES Pressure testers for hydraulic fluid systems must not be used for systems with brake fluid, otherwise brake fluid may be mixed with mineral oil which may cause the brakes to fail.

3 Bleed pressure tester (051).    
INSPECT High-pressure test     
4 Start engine and let it run for 10 s at medium engine speed    
5 With the engine running, depress brake pedal as far as possible using the brake pedal jack (080). NOTES The pressure loss during the test duration of 5 minutes must not exceed 5 % of the regulated value. If the pressure drop is greater, the brake system may malfunction!

INSPECT Low-pressure testing     
6 Switch off engine and keep pressing brake pedal until the vacuum is reduced.    
7 Turn back brake pedal winch (080) until a line pressure of approx. 3 bar overpressure is indicated on the pressure gauge IMPORTANT The line pressure must not fall throughout the duration of the test (2 minutes).

8 Remove brake pedal jack (080)    
9 Detach pressure tester (051) and fit bleed screw onto front left brake caliper    
10 Bleed front left brake caliper   AR42.10-P-0010GG
