Component description for sound system amplifier - GF82.62-P-6003G
MODEL 463.346 up to 31.5.12 with CODE (EU9) Surround sound system (harman/kardon Logic 7) as of Model Year 2011 /YoM 10
MODEL 463.236 /237 /270 /271 /341 up to 31.5.12 with CODE (EU9) Surround sound system (harman/kardon Logic 7) as of Model Year 2009 /YoM 08
Location
The sound system amplifier is located under the driver seat.
Depending on the equipment installed one of the following control units will be installed, hereafter referred to as the "audio unit":
- Radio (A2), (with code (EF5) MB Audio 20 CD radio, (NTG 2.5))
- COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) (with code (EU1) COMAND, APS)
Task
The sound system amplifier is responsible for the following tasks:
- Receive signals
- Decoding signals
- Support and amplification of signals
- Transmit signals
Receive signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
Direct line
The following signals are received via a direct line:
- Power supply via circuit 31 and circuit 30g via a direct line for each circuit
- Audio mute by telephone mute from external mute signal (e.g. telephone mute or emergency call system mute (with code (ZU8) USA version)) via a direct line
- Wake-up signal
MOST
The amplifier for sound system is a subscriber of the MOST and receives the Digital Transmission Content Protection (DTCP) copy-protected audio signals from the following components, for example:
- Audio equipment
- High definition tuner control unit (N87/8) (with code (EU7) HD radio)
- Media interface control unit (N125/1) (with code (EH3) Media interface)
- TV tuner (analog/digital) (A90/1) (with code (EM8) TV tuner)
Decoding signals
The following signals are decoded:
- DTCP-copy-protected audio signals based on the latest digital signal processing technology
In audio applications, digital signal processing means processing audio tracks using mathematical algorithms with the objective of improving the acoustic sound properties.
Support and amplification of signals
The following signals are supported and amplified:
- Logic 7 supported
- Two stereo entertainment channels and three announcement channels (e.g. for voice output of navigation instructions) are supported
- Amplification of decoded audio signals
Transmit signals
The following signals are transmitted via a direct line:
- Output of signal tones (BEEPs), digital multiple channel output and output of decoded, volume-adapted and amplified audio signals over the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker (H4/1)
- Right front door speaker (H4/2)
- Left rear door speaker (H4/5)
- Right rear door speaker (H4/6)
- Left rear speaker (H4/7)
- Right rear speaker (H4/8)
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill) (H4/27)
- Subwoofer speaker (H4/29)
- Left cockpit tweeter (H4/33)
- Right cockpit tweeter (H4/34)
- Left rear door tweeter (H4/37)
- Right rear door tweeter (H4/38)
Function
The sound system amplifier is activated via the audio equipment. The audio unit also provides all of the menus for user guidance. In addition, the following subfunctions are also available:
- Diagnosis
- Software download
Diagnosis
The diagnosis of the sound system amplifier is performed using the Keyword 2000 protocol.
The sound system amplifier can be configured via "Common Vehicle Information".
Software download
Updating is possible with the audio equipment drive using a CD or DVD.
