Remove/install brake pad on floating brake caliper - AR42.10-P-0160GG

	Remove/install
	Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.	Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.	AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

1	Unscrew the cap on the brake fluid expansion reservoir and suction off some brake fluid	In order to prevent the expansion reservoir overflowing when pressing back the brake pistons.
2	Remove wheels
	Remove/install wheels		AP40.10-P-4050G
	Checking
3	Check lining thickness of brake pads and condition of brake disks.
	Check lining thickness of brake pads and condition of brake disks	If the brake pads have worn beyond the permissible wear limit: ↓	AP42.10-P-4251G
		Inspect brake system for leaks with pressure tester.	AR42.10-P-0015GG
4	Remove retaining spring (1) to floating brake caliper (2)	If installed
5	Remove screws or guide pins (3)		*BA42.10-P-1002-17B
6	Remove floating brake caliper (2)	Do not detach brake hose and do not tension or bend it. To relieve the load on the brake hose attach the floating brake caliper (2) to the vehicle unstressed, otherwise the brake hose will be damaged.
7	Take out brake pads (4)	Brake pads (4) are to be disposed of as special waste. The local authorities can provide information regarding whether disposal is also permitted as industrial waste similar to domestic waste. Installation:  Only the brake pads (4) approved by Mercedes-Benz may be built-in as a set.
8	Press piston back in floating brake caliper (2)		Figure
	Clean
9	Clean floating brake caliper (2) using brake caliper brush	Do not damage dust boots.

10	Install in the reverse order
	Checking
	Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work	Before starting engine, actuate brake pedal several times until the pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.	AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
11	Press brake pedal several times and check brake system for leaks	Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.	AR42.10-P-0100-01A
12	Check fluid level in brake fluid reservoir, and correct if necessary.
	Hydraulic brake system - check fluid level, correct if necessary		AP42.50-P-4210G
