With code (527) navigation module for COMAND and code (528) HIGH Class USA the external navigation module is designated navigation processor (N41/1).
Continuous position finding is the calculation of the current vehicle position.
Even by opening the driver's door or with "circuit 15 ON" this is activated and carried out by the navigation processor (N41/1).
During the switch-on phase (software is loaded), only basic map matching is available.
After "circuit 15 OFF" all the important location finding parameters are stored during a run-on time of 30 minutes.
Three complementary methods are utilized for continuous position finding. This ensures very accurate and reliable position finding.
These methods are:
- Basic location finding
- Map-supported map matching
- GPS location finding
When entering the vehicle location there is the possibility of entering the location manually on the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). This may be useful after the vehicle has been transported (e.g. ferry or train) if there was no GPS reception at the start of the journey.
