Remove/install overhead control panel control unit - AR82.20-P-1000T

MODIFICATION NOTES

17.10.05 Disconnect ground line of battery, removed Step 2
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1.1 Transfer basic data from overhead control panel control unit (N70) to STAR DIAGNOSIS When installing new overhead control panel control unit (N70).
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Transfer buffered basic data to new overhead control panel control unit (N70), and for code (414) Tilting/sliding roof, normalize the anti-pinch protection.
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnosis system *WH58.30-Z-1048-13A 
2.1 Switch off the ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS control unit On vehicles without code (889) Keyless Go  
2.2 Switch off ignition and place transmitter key out of transmission range of vehicle On vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go  
3 Pry off rain/light sensor covering (1) with mounting wedge toward bottom and remove SPECIAL TOOL Figure
4 Unclip mirror base cover (2) from overhead control panel control unit (N70)    
5 Release inside rearview mirror unit (A67) by pivoting to the side at the mirror base and at the same time pulling downward out of the mirror mount. IMPORTANT Let inside rearview mirror unit (A67) hang from wiring harness.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Press spring shackle bolt (5) together with pliers (arrow) and allow retainer to latch. Ensure that wiring harness is routed properly.
 
6 Disconnect electrical connector (6) from rain/light sensor    
7 Release overhead control panel control unit (N70) at front by pressing pushbuttons (3)    
8 Release overhead control panel control unit (N70) at rear by pushing on it from the side with the mounting wedge SPECIAL TOOL Figure
9 Remove overhead control panel control unit (N70) from the headliner until the electrical connectors of the inside rearview mirror unit (A67) and the electrical connections (4) are accessible    
10 Disconnect electrical connectors of the inside rearview mirror unit (A67) from the overhead control panel control unit (N70) and remove inside rearview mirror unit (A67)    
11 Unplug electrical connectors at electrical connections (4) of overhead control panel control unit (N70) and remove overhead control panel control unit (N70) NOTES Carefully remove overhead control panel control unit (N70), otherwise the ribbon cables could be damaged.
IMPORTANT The number of electrical connectors is dependent on the vehicle equipment.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Ensure that wiring harnesses are routed correctly.
 
12 Install in the reverse order    
13.1 Normalize tilting/sliding roof IMPORTANT For vehicles with code (414) Tilting/sliding roof  
14 Read fault memory, erase if necessary    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
