	Remove/install
	Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by handling hot or glowing objects.	Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.	AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
	Risk of injury from grazing or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts	Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts. Deburr repair panels.	AS00.00-Z-0017-01A

1	Raise vehicle with lifting platform		AR00.60-P-1000T
2	Detach the rear section of the lower engine compartment paneling	Installation: Install engine compartment paneling only after the engine test run.	AR61.20-P-1105T
3	Remove crossmember (1)		*BA62.30-P-1001-01A
4	Unclip the electrical connectors (G3/3x1, G3/4x1, G3/5x1, G3/6x1) and electrical lines of the O2 sensors of the catalytic converter (2) for removal from the retaining clamps
5	Disconnect the electrical connectors (G3/3x1, G3/4x1, G3/5x1, G3/6x1) of the O2 sensors of the catalytic converter (2) for removal
6	Support center muffler (3) with a transmission jack and a transmission platform	Transmission jack http://gotis.aftersales.mercedes-benz.com Transmission platform http://gotis.aftersales.mercedes-benz.com
7	Detach catalytic converter (2) from catalytic converter bracket (4)		*BA49.10-P-1007-01T
8	Unscrew bolts (5) and remove catalytic converter 2) from center muffler (3)	Installation: Clean connecting points of combustion and corrosion residues. Install new seals (6) and bolts (5).

9	Undo bolts (7) and dismount catalytic convertor (2) from exhaust manifold	Installation: Clean connecting points of combustion and corrosion residues, replace bolts (7). Check the rivet nuts in the exhaust manifold and replace them if required: ↓

10	Remove three-way catalytic converter (2)

11	Remove O2 sensors from respective catalytic converter (2)	When replacing the catalytic converter (2)

12	Install in the reverse order
	Checking
13	Inspect installation position and clearance of exhaust system	The exhaust system must be installed free of stress. Realign exhaust system if necessary.
	Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the running engine	Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
14	Conduct engine test run and inspect exhaust system for leaks
