Test brake system with pressure tester for leaks - AR42.10-P-0015T

MODEL 211, 219 with Adaptive Brake (ABR)

INSPECT Checking     
DANGER Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

1 Deactivate easy entry/exit Vehicles with memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors) code 275  
2 Connect brake fluid changing unit to expansion reservoir (1) IMPORTANT Observe manufacturer's operating instructions!

3 Detach left front wheel Vehicles with 6-piston or 8-piston brake calipers  
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels Model 211 AP40.10-P-4050Z
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Model 219 AP40.10-P-4050TX
4 Remove bleed screw at the left front brake caliper (2) and connect pressure tester (01) NOTES Pressure testers (01) for hydraulic oil systems must not be used for systems with brake fluid otherwise the brake fluid is mixed with mineral oil which can lead to brake failure!
NOTES Use the correct connection fitting (pitch, taper etc.), otherwise leakage and measurement errors will occur.
NOTES Follow the manufacturer's operating instructions in order to avoid measurement errors and incorrect operation.

Pressure tester (for hydraulic single circuit and dual-circuit brake systems)

5 Bleed pressure tester (01)    
6 Switch off brake fluid changing unit and release pressure    
HIGH PRESSURE TEST High-pressure check     
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

7 Allow the engine to run at moderate speed and release the accelerator pedal suddenly IMPORTANT In order to produce the highest possible vacuum in the brake booster (3).
8 Immediately press down brake pedal as far as possible and insert brake pedal jack (02) with adapter between brake pedal and seat NOTES Protect brake pedal and seat against damage.

9 Read off and note brake pressure on high-pressure gauge of pressure tester (01)    
10 Read off and note brake pressure again after 5 minutes on the high-pressure gauge of the pressure tester (01) IMPORTANT During the 5 min duration of the test, the brake pressure may not drop more than 5 %.  
HIGH PRESSURE TEST Low-pressure testing     
11 Switch off engine and loosen brake pedal jack (02)    
12 Push down brake pedal several times IMPORTANT In order to reduce the vacuum in the brake booster (3).  
13 Depress brake pedal as far as possible and insert the brake pedal jack (02) with adapter for brake pedal jack between the brake pedal and seat NOTES Protect brake pedal and seat against damage.

14 Move back brake pedal jack (02) slowly IMPORTANT Until a brake pressure of approx. 3 bar is displayed on the low pressure gauge of the pressure tester (01).  
15 Read off and note the brake pressure after 2 minutes on the low pressure gauge of the pressure tester (01) IMPORTANT The brake pressure must not drop during the 2 min duration of the test.  
16 Remove brake pedal jack (02) and adapter for brake pedal jack    
17 Detach the pressure tester (01) and screw the bleed screw into the brake caliper (2)    
18 Bleed brake system   AR42.10-P-0010-02SX 
19 Mount left front wheel Vehicles with 6-piston or 8-piston brake calipers  
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels Model 211 AP40.10-P-4050Z

20 Detach brake fluid change unit    
21 Check fluid level in expansion reservoir (1), correct if necessary TORQUE SPECIFICATION Cap on brake fluid expansion reservoir *BA42.50-P-1001-01D
