	Drain
	Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel and risk of injury  to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel	No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Only pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.	AS47.00-Z-0001-01A
1	Unscrew fuel filler flap and tank lid and close them again.	To release the overpressure in the fuel tank.
2	Open engine hood		AR88.40-P-1000TX
3	Remove front engine cover
4	Unscrew the cap (1) from service valve (2)
5	Screw on pressure hose (3) at service valve (2)	Pressure hose	Fig 2
6.1	Start engine and drain fuel tank through pressure hose (3)	Except model 219.357 The fuel tank is emptied via excess fuel delivered. When emptying observe maximum filling capacity of fuel tank. Use safety tank (4) for collecting the fuel.

		The engine cannot be started if the fuel pump is defective: →	Fig 2

6.2	Actuate fuel pump control unit via Star Diagnosis and empty fuel tank via the pressure hose (3) Model	219.357 When emptying observe maximum filling capacity of fuel tank.
		Use safety tank (4) for collecting the fuel.

7	Install in the reverse order
	Fill
8	Open fuel filler flap and tank cap
9	Pump fuel out of the safety reservoir (4) through the filler neck into the fuel tank	To prevent electrostatic charging, the extraction pump must be grounded. Observe manufacturer's operating instructions and notes.
10	Screw on tank cap and close fuel filler flap
11	Remove ground clamp of extraction pump
	Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running	Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
12	Check fuel system for leaks with engine running	In the event of oil loss determine and eliminate cause otherwise malfunctions and serious environmental pollution may occur.
