Remove/install SAM control unit with fuse and relay box in trunk - AR54.21-P-1258TX

MODEL 219.3 up to 2.3.08 except CODE (809) Model year 2009

MODIFICATION NOTES

12.4.05 Disconnect ground line of battery, removed Step 2  
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and buffer the basic data of the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) in STAR DIAGNOSIS Only when replacing the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Transfer temporarily stored basic data to the new rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04TX
2 Remove left side paneling in trunk   AR68.30-P-4800TX
3 Remove cable tie (1) on bracket (5) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace cable tie (1).  
4 Undo bolt (3) and place control unit bracket (2) to one side For vehicles with code (220) Parktronic system (PTS) or
with code (527) COMAND APS (with navigation) or
with code (529) HIGH Class Japan or
with code (530) COMAND APS USA (with navigation) or
with code (404) Left multicontour seat or with code (405) Right multicontour seat or
with code (433) Left dynamic seat, incl. multicontour seat or
with code (434) Right dynamic seat, incl. multicontour seat or
with code (860) TV tuner or
with code (889) Keyless-Go)
IMPORTANT Do not detach electrical connectors to each installed control unit.
INSTALLATION NOTES Make sure that no electrical lines are pinched, otherwise there is a risk of damaging the electrical system.
 
5 Undo bolt (4) and remove rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) with bracket (5) INSTALLING Make sure that no electrical lines are pinched, otherwise there is a risk of damaging the electrical system.  
6 Disconnect electrical connectors from rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) IMPORTANT The electrical connector leading to circuit 30 must be the first to be disconnected and the last to be contacted. Note color codings of electrical connectors. The number of electrical connectors depends on the vehicle equipment.  
7 Remove rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) with bracket (5)    
8 Convert bracket (5) on rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) When replacing the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).    
9 Check fuse and relay assignment at the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) When replacing the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).    
REFER TO BASIC KNOWLEDGE Fuse assignment of fuse and relay box in trunk Up to and including model J. 05 GF54.15-P-1256-06TX

10 Install in the reverse order
