82 345 73 Faulty communication between the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) and front passenger seat occupied and child seat recognition sensor (B48). IMPORTANT Should other fault codes be stored, process them first and then recode the restraint systems control unit.  
  IMPORTANT SRS indicator lamp lights up, fault code 90A6 and no further faults stored in the restraint systems control unit. IMPORTANT Replacing the restraint systems control unit or front passenger seat occupied and child seat recognition sensor does not provide the solution  
  Fault code 90A6 can occur on the system selftest. The following part numbers of the front passenger seat occupied and child seat recognition sensor (B48) are affected: 1 Recode restraint systems control unit (N2/7).  
 
  • A 203 870 37 10
  • A 203 870 38 10
  • A 203 870 39 10
IMPORTANT For this purpose a software update is required for the DAS [Diagnosis Assistance System] version 07/2005. The download package (2005-07-19-0432) is available under the following Internet address:
http://stardiagnosis.daimlerchrysler.com 
As of DAS version 08/2005 the software has been changed and the restraint systems control unit detects the front passenger seat occupied and child seat recognition sensor installed.
IMPORTANT After the download the following procedures must be carried out:
  • Connect DAS.
  • Call up "airbag control unit"
  • Select "control unit adaptations"
  • Select "read coding and change if necessary"
  • Start "checking the seat mat components"
  • Follow further instructions in DAS
