Remove/install rear bumper - AR88.20-P-2200SC

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. see AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
1 Lift vehicle on lifting platform.
2 Remove spare tire well paneling, loosen left and right side paneling in trunk, open trunk floor paneling, join left and right side paneling in trunk and fasten with one another with cable strap   see AR68.30-P-4600SX
3.1 Disconnect PTS, rear bumper connector (X35/28) Except code (229) Park assistant  
3.2 Disconnect radar sensors/FFS connector, rear bumper (X172/2) With code (229) Park assistant  
4 Remove bracket (4) in right rear fender and lay down to side with lines connected    
5.1 Remove bracket (2) in left rear fender and lay down to side with lines connected On vehicles with code (218) Backup camera or
Code (390 to 396) Linguatronic or
Code (529) HIGH Class Japan or
Code (813) Voice control system (VCS)
 
6 Unscrew bolts (3) in left and right rear fender    
7 Remove nuts (6) inside of rear center section    
8 Guide electrical wiring harness (5) through opening into rear center section    
9 Unscrew bolts (7) at bottom of rear bumper (1).    
10 Remove expansion clip (10) from rear fender paneling (9) on left and right    
11 Loosen left and right rear fender paneling (9) with mounting wedge until bolt (8) is accessible. SPECIAL TOOL Fig 4
12 Unscrew left and right bolt (8)    
13 Remove rear bumper (1) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Guide hose (12) into bracket on rear bumper (1).
Check gaps on rear bumper (1), adjust if necessary
 
Gap dimensions on hoods, doors and lids see AR60.00-P-0700-01SC
  see *BE60.00-P-1003-01T 
SPECIAL TOOL Fig 5
14 Install in the reverse order
