General

The convenience feature (CF) includes the following functions

The convenience opening/closing function opens and closes

Only the convenience closing function is available via KG.

Convenience feature via transmitter key

Function requirements

Function

If the "Unlock" button on the transmitter key is pressed and held down for longer than 1 s and simultaneously aimed at the driver door infrared sensor, all windows and the SR are opened.

On vehicles with code (401) Front comfort seats, including seat heating and seat ventilation, the seat ventilation in the driver seat is switched to stage 3 during convenience opening.

Convenience closing can be actuated by pressing and holding the "Lock" button on the transmitter key for longer than 1 s in the opposite order.

Function sequence

When the "Lock or unlock" button on the transmitter key is pressed and held down, it transmits an infrared command "Convenience feature" to the driver door infrared sensor.

This signal is read in by the left door control unit and transmitted to the EIS control unit via interior CAN bus.

The EIS control unit checks the access authorization of the transmitter key.

If the access authorization is valid, the EIS control unit transmits the "Convenience feature" command to the door control units, rear control unit and overhead control panel control unit via the interior CAN.

IMPORTANT When the "Lock or unlock" button is released, the convenience feature is stopped.

Convenience opening/closing via recirculated air button

Function requirements:

Function

If the windows or the SR are open when the recirculated air button is pressed, they are closed.

When it is pressed again, the windows and the SR are moved to the position they were in before convenience closing was started.

Function sequence

When the recirculated air button in the upper control panel control unit is actuated for longer than 1.5 s, the "Convenience feature" command is transmitted to the door control unit, the rear control unit and overhead control panel control unit via the interior CAN. Convenience closing is accomplished.

When the air recirculation switch is actuated again for longer than 1.5 s, the corresponding windows and SR are automatically moved the position they were in before convenience closing was started.

The window positions are stored before convenience closing in the corresponding door control unit, the rear control unit and the position of the SR is stored in the overhead control panel control unit and they are automatically returned to these positions during convenience closing.

IMPORTANT The convenience feature is immediately stopped when the air recirculation switch is actuated again.

Convenience closing via KG (with code (889) Keyless Go)

Function requirements

Function

Convenience closing is activated if a comfort sensor on a door handle outer side is touched for longer than 1.5 s after the vehicle is locked. The windows and the SR are closed.

The convenience function is a manual closing function, i.e. the comfort sensor must be touched during the entire closing procedure; when the sensor is released, the procedure is stopped.

Convenience closing is interrupted in the following cases:

IMPORTANT The comfort sensors can only be used to actuate the convenience closing function.

Function sequence

When a comfort sensor is touched, it transmits a signal to the Keyless Go control unit. The Keyless Go control unit then transmits the "Convenience feature" command to the door control units, the rear control unit and overhead control panel control unit for the duration of the actuation via the interior CAN.

If the same door handle is pulled during convenience closing, or max. 2 s thereafter, emergency opening is activated. In this case, the windows and the SR are actuated in the 'Open' direction. Actuation is performed for min. 2 s or as long as the door handle is pulled, max. 90 s.
