Location
The ultrasonic sensors are located in the front and rear bumpers.
Task
The ultrasonic sensors are both transmitters and receivers for the ultrasonic signals necessary for measuring the distance to an obstacle.
Function
When actuated by the PTS control unit (N62), the ultrasonic sensors emit an ultrasonic signal. After a short decay time the ultrasonic sensors are ready to receive. Each ultrasonic sensor receives an echo of its own signal and that from the other ultrasonic sensor. The distance to the obstacle is calculated from the elapsed time between transmission and reception.
