Location

The R/P lockout is integrated in the electronic selector lever module control unit.

Task

Depending on the precondition the R/P-lockout prevents a shift out of selector lever position "P" or a changeover into selector lever position "R" from "N".

Design

The R/P lock consists of:

R lock, function

Above a vehicle speed of approx. 8 km/h the selector lever positions R and P locking solenoid is actuated by the electronic selector lever module control unit. The rocker arm presses on the rocker which is twisted into the locking position.

The locking lever abuts the rocker and the selector lever cannot be moved into selector lever position "R".

P lock, function

Selector lever position "P" is locked when the selector lever positions R and P locking solenoid is not actuated by the electronic selector lever module control unit. The prerequisites for this are as follows:

Under these conditions the rocker is held in front of the locking lever by the spring force of the leaf spring. The selector lever cannot be shifted away from position "P". The selector lever positions locking solenoid is actuated when "circuit 15 is ON" and the brake pedal is operated. The rocker arm presses on the rocker; the selector lever can be shifted out of selector lever position "P".
