Ignition switch lock, function 

The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) locks the transmitter key (A8/1) mechanically as from "terminal 15R ON. As soon as the vehicle speed exceeds the speed threshold of 8 km/h, the electronic ignition lock control unit prevents the removal of the transmitter key, as the automatic engagement of gear selector switch position "P" (Key-P function) cannot be carried out by the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5).

As long as the vehicle speed remains below the vehicle speed threshold, the transmitter key can be removed and the gear selector switch position "P" is automatically engaged by the electronic selector lever module control unit.
