Automatic transmission (AT), transmission modes - GF27.10-P-0001-06AHW

IMPORTANTChangeover from Comfort ("C") transmission mode to Economy ("E") transmission mode 

As of model year 11/YoM 10, the labeling on the automatic transmission mode button (S16/12) and the display in the instrument cluster will be changed from Comfort ("C") transmission mode to Economy ("E") transmission mode.

Gear indicator in instrument cluster in Sport ("S") transmission mode and Comfort ("C") transmission mode or Economy ("E") transmission mode 

It shows the driver the shift range currently selected "1", "2", "3", "4", "5", "6" or selector lever position "D", "R", "N", "P".

Gear indicator in instrument cluster in Manual transmission mode "M" (model 204.077/277, model 204.0/2, model 204.3 except code (494) USA version or model 204.9 with code (430) Off-road package and code (952) Sport package) 

It shows the driver the engaged gear "1", "2", "3", "4", "5", "6", "7" or selector lever position "P", "R", "N".

Transmission mode display in instrument cluster 

It shows the driver the program selection performed at the automatic transmission mode button Sport "S", Comfort "C", Economy "E" or Manual "M" (model 204.077/277, model 204.0/2, model 204.3 except code (494) USA version or model 204.9 with code (430) Off-road package and code (952) Sport package).

The data are transmitted to the instrument cluster from the fully integrated transmission control unit (Y3/8n4) and from the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) via the drive train CAN (CAN C).

6 different functions can be selected via the selector lever and 3 different transmission modes can be selected at the transmission mode button for automatic transmission.

Selector lever positions 

"P" Park lock and start position

"R" Reverse gear

"N" Neutral and start position (no power transmission)

"D" All 7 forward gears are available

Upshift and downshift 

Upshifting and downshifting takes place via the upshift steering wheel gearshift button (S111/1) and downshift steering wheel gearshift button (S110/1) or via the selector lever.

Upshifting and downshifting by the selector lever takes place via the following options:

IMPORTANT

With a limited shift range, upshifts take place close to the maximum engine speed limitation.

Automatic-transmission transmission mode button 

The following transmission modes can be selected:

IMPORTANT

With kickdown the upshifts and downshifts take place as in transmission mode "S".

IMPORTANT

A sporty suspension tuning and transmission mode "S" or a comfortable suspension tuning and transmission mode "C" or "E" are selected using the vehicle dynamics button.
