The solenoids are located in the NECK-PRO head restraints on the front seats.
Task
Release of NECK-PRO head restraint in event of crash.
Function
The supplemental restraint system control unit (N2/10) actuates the solenoids. A pre-compressed spring moves the impact plate of the NECK-PRO head restraint forwards and simultaneously upwards.
A counter magnetic field is used to hold the NECK-PRO head restraint in this position. It is released again by the supplemental restraint system control unit.
