Check brake lining thickness - AP42.10-P-4253A: Notes

INSPECT Checking     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by handling hot or glowing objects. Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
1 Check lining thickness (1) of brake pads IMPORTANT If necessary, use lamp (011) or mirror (012). If access is impeded by the mounted wheels, the measurement can be made on the inner brake pad.
For model 204:		  
Measure thickness of brake pads. AP42.10-P-4253-01GZ 
SPECIAL TOOL Brake pad gage Figure
2 Remove stop plugs from check bores and check lining thickness (1) of brake shoes IMPORTANT Vehicles with drum brakes. Use torch (011) if necessary.  
3 Install stop plugs for check bores IMPORTANT Vehicles with drum brakes.  
4 Determine estimated remaining service distance of brake linings and agree on immediate or later replacement of brake pads/shoes with customer IMPORTANT If the check shows that the brake lining wear limit will be reached before the next service.
IMPORTANT Expected remaining distance, take into account the driving style of the customer and conditions of use of the vehicle so that brake pads do not wear out before the next maintenance service		 AP42.10-P-4253-02A 
5 Replace brake pads or brake shoes IMPORTANT Only when required:

Model 204.0/2/9 with split brake caliper support AR42.10-P-0225CV 
Model 204.0/2/9 with single-piece brake caliper support AR42.10-P-0225CW 
Rear axle brake pads:
Model 204 except 204.077/277 AR42.10-P-0250CW
