Remove/install airbag unit on steering wheel - AR91.60-P-0660EL

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100°C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply. AS91.00-Z-0001-01A

1 Place steering column in the central height position    
2 Disconnect ground line for on-board electrical system battery (G1) Model 204 AR54.10-P-0003CW
3 Insert Torx screwdriver into openings on steering wheel (2) and press retaining springs (7) inward Torx screwdriver T20
IMPORTANT If the perforation is not present, the openings at the steering wheel must be pierced the first time that the driver airbag unit (1) is removed.
The position of the openings can be determined by carefully feeling with the Torx screwdriver.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  The retaining springs (7) must engage audibly into the driver airbag unit (1).
 
4 Remove driver airbag unit (1) far enough from steering wheel (2) until electrical connector (3) is accessible    
5 Disconnect electrical connector (3) from steering column tube module    
6 Disconnect driver airbag unit (1) from steering wheel (2) IMPORTANT If driver airbag unit (1) is being replaced, the defective driver airbag unit (1) must be disposed of properly.  
REFER TO FORMS Notes on disposing of airbag and emergency tensioning retractor units OS91.00-P-0001-01A
7 Install in the reverse order    
8 Connect Star Diagnosis and check Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) When installing new driver airbag unit (1). AD00.00-P-2000-04A
