Separate B-pillar - AR63.20-P-1350-05CW

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 Mercedes-Benz C300, 2010 Mercedes-Benz C300, 2009 Mercedes-Benz C300, and 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on model 204.0.

  1. Scribe separation lines on outer B-pillar (1) (areas A, B, C, D, E, F and G).

IMPORTANT On vehicles with panorama roof, separation line and cut are not required in area A. Completely cut separation lines in areas B and C to roof frame connection and cut out resistance spot welds at roof frame connection.

IMPORTANT Transfer separation lines from new part (areas B, C, D and E).

    Dimensions:

IMPORTANT When removing outer B-pillar (1) without side longitudinal member (3), scribe only cutting line in areas A, B, C, D and E.

  2. Cut outer B-pillar (1) at separation point (areas A, B, C, D, E, F and G).

IMPORTANT When removing outer B-pillar (1) without side longitudinal member (3), cut only separation points in areas A, B, C, D and E.

  3. Expose spot welds on outer B-pillar (1) (areas H, I, J, K, L, M and N).

IMPORTANT When removing outer B-pillar (1) without side longitudinal member (3), expose only (areas H, I and J)

  4. Cut out spot welds (areas H, I, J, K, L, M and N).

IMPORTANT When removing outer B-pillar (1) without side longitudinal member (3) cut out only (areas H, I and J).

  5. Heat outer B-pillar (1) in crosshatched areas.
  6. Remove damaged outer B-pillar (1).

  7. Cut out spot welds (areas O, P, Q, R, S, T, W, X and Y).

IMPORTANT When removing inner B-pillar (2) without side longitudinal member (3), cut out only spot welds in areas O, P, Q, R, S and T.

IMPORTANT When removing inner B-pillar (2) with side longitudinal member (3) cut out only spot welds in areas O, P, Q, W, X and Y.

  8. Scribe separation line on Y-embossment at side longitudinal member (3) (arrows) (areas U and V).
  9. Cut side longitudinal member (3) at separation point (areas U and V).
  10. Heat inner B-pillar (2) in crosshatched areas.

IMPORTANT Heat only when removing inner B-pillar (2) without side longitudinal member (area XX).

  11. Remove damaged inner B-pillar (2).

  12. Sand down connection surfaces on body to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

IMPORTANT When removing inner B-pillar (2) without side longitudinal member (3) observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces in areas Z and AA.

IMPORTANT When removing inner B-pillar (2) with side longitudinal member (3) observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces in areas AB, AC and AD.

IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  13. Remove shavings.
  14. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

NOTES To prevent adhesion problems, do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint.
