Task

Position sensors recognize the manual end positions of tumble flap shafts. The swivel range of the tumble flaps between completely swiveled in or out is approx. 56°.

Design

Position sensor consist of a Hall sensor with integral electronics which are cast in a plastic housing with a 3-pin connector.

Function

There are two cylindrical magnets with different polarities attached on every tumble flap shaft.

After swiveling out the tumble flaps the cylindrical magnets stand in front of the Hall sensors and the signal voltage is about 0 V (tumble flaps actuated).

If one swivels back the tumble flaps again, the other (differently poled) cylindrical magnets stand in front of the Hall sensors in rest position. The signal voltage is now about 5 V (tumble flaps not actuated).

The signal voltages of position sensors are evaluated by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).

IMPORTANT Position sensors must emit a signal voltage at the latest about 5° before the respective end position. For reasons of tolerance, a signal voltage may be emitted up to approx. 16° before the end position.
