Location

The pressure sensor is located above on the left cylinder head and connected via a rubber hose with the variable intake manifold.

Task

The pressure sensor detects the absolute pressure in the variable intake manifold (intake manifold air pressure). The intake manifold air pressure serves the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) during starting to recognize the air mass and for a running engine to monitor the measured air mass.

Design

Function

The intake manifold air pressure deforms the membrane which acts on a potentiometer. This alters the resistance value of the potentiometer and influences the signal voltage which serves the ME-SFI [ME] control unit as information about the intake manifold air pressure.
