Task

The switchover valve actuates the vacuum unit intake manifold switchover with vacuum from the vacuum reservoir to achieve intake manifold switchover.

Function

Design

The switchover valve consists of a solenoid with a coil resistance of about 30 Ω, two valve plates, three air connections and a 2-pin connector.

The switchover valve is actuated for intake manifold switchover by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) by means of a ground signal. The voltage supply takes place from "circuit 87 M".

The valve plates actuated by the coil anchor switch between aeration (atmosphere) and supply of vacuum from the vacuum reservoir.

In an energized condition connection 1 is closed by a valve plate and vacuum from the vacuum reservoir is built up in both vacuum units for intake manifold switchover. The long intake route in the variable intake manifold is enabled.

In a de-energized condition, the connection between connection 1 and 3 is recreated, whereby the vacuum unit for intake manifold switchover (via connection 3) is aerated again. The short intake route in the variable intake manifold is enabled.
